Inter-Academy Workshop on Membrane Protein Structure and Folding
Membrane proteins are essential gatekeepers for material transport and information flow across cell membranes, and these marvelous functions are made possible by their exquisite tertiary and quaternary structures. Recent advances in the cryo-electron microscopy have enabled determination of these structures at an unprecedented pace, but how these complex structures fold in cellular environments remains largely unknown. This workshop aspires to explore new tools as well as emerging concepts in the two related fields of membrane protein structure and folding in a hope of stimulating discussions and inspiration amongst these areas of study.
The workshop will be supported by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of the Republic of Korea as part of its efforts in promoting the exchange of scientific ideas among scientists within the Korean, European and North American regions. The organizing committee strongly encourages participation of early career scientists in this workshop. The deadline for abstract submission and registration is January 3, 2023, and about ten abstracts will be selected for short talks and travel awards.
